Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism
By: Dr. Robin DiAngelo
After watching the author’s book talk in EDUC 346: Aboriginal and Indigenous Education, I decided to borrow the full audiobook from the public library because the book covers a topic that I would like to learn more about as it will be relevent for teaching. Dr. DiAngelo explains that white fragility is a defensive response exhibited by white people when faced with conversations or situations involving racism. This defensive response also reinforces racist tendencies and is the foundation of systematic racism.

Something I want to remember: It’s important to sit in discomfort because if white people chose comfort, it means racism is not being ended.
