Language Essentials for Teachers

This book was covered in EDUC 397: Curriculum and Instruction in the Humanities. It provides in depth explanations of phonetics, phonology, orthography, morphology, syntax, semantics, and structured language and literacy instruction.

Although this was an intimidating book in the beginning, it pairs incredibly well with UFLI, the phonics program being implemented in SD82, and makes the strucutre and lessons of the program a lot easier to understand. Having the background knowledge obtained through Speech to Print will make teaching my next UFLI lesson a whole lot easier than it was in my first practicum.
