Educators understand and apply knowledge of student growth and development.

As a teacher, I will work with many different kids. Those kids will not all be the same and that is a good thing! Life would be boring if everyone was the same. However, this means it’s important to understand how kids may develop diffferently. Although there are parts of development that will be the same for many kids, such as how they learn to read and how their brains grow and change over time, there are kids that will learn differently if they have ADHD, FASD, or autism. There are many other reasons students may learn differently than others. Understanding how and why kids may need adaptations or extra help with things is important as it will ensure they are not left behind in their learning. Closing learning gaps between students is something that will positively impact their lives as they grow and develop.
